General Leia using the force to pull herself from space back to the remains of a destroyed ship bridge. The following is sort of up for debate weather it’s good or not, so I guess it’s ok…ish. The sound goes mute, a flash of light and the first order ships are completely destroyed. The Supremacy starts destroying the smaller ships containing the last of the rebellion, Vice Admiral Holdo turns the cruiser around, points it at the Supremacy, and goes to light speed. Another great moment is when Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern) is piloting an empty rebel cruiser away from the First Order ship, Supremacy. This cameo is a lot of fun while still making sense, progressing Luke’s character, and it helps get the message of the story across (not very subtlety but in an interesting way). There is even a well choreographed fight scene with Kylo and Rey fighting side by side. Still by Luke’s side is Yoda played once again by the incredible Frank Oz. Now they’ve given Poe an ark where he goes from losing all the rebels’ bombers to becoming a better leader under the teachings of General Leia, and Kylo finds his resolve to increase his power and grow as a character. Poe was the perfect hot-shot and Kylo was just a brat. I felt that in The Force Awakens that both Poe and Kylo were too 2 dimensional to make great main characters. Let’s start with the light character growth. I know there is good in it, I can feel the conflict. Not that anything is inherently terrible, most scenes have good intentions, but they just miss the point. Unfortunately everything seems just a tad…off, or just not quite right. Star Wars: The Last Jedi has some funny moments, decent effects and some ok fight scenes. I’ll just put a big ol’ spoiler warning right here… *SPIOLERS!* …there, good.
